Location: Nottingham's Streets

I have taken photographs of various areas around Nottingham which look particularly sinister at night to help us find a good location!

Locations: Cellars

Using a cellar for our photoshoot could be the perfect location as they are dark, dingy and would add a sinister edge.

Make up trends

This is our makeup trend board which we will give to our makeup artist, we want to focus on the eye area with dark makeup , and perhaps a slight plum colour for the lips to bring in some colour, pale skin and exaggerated eyelashes.

Mens accessories

This board is looking at the accessories for the male model , quirky bow ties, bracers bringing in the geeky edge.

accessories trend board

This is the trend board for accessories, this is for the female model , looking at a very gothic, edwardian feel, we will look at customising shoes with ruffles, creating our own neckpieces.

hair trend board

This is a copy of the hair trend board, looking at big elaborate hairstyles, backcombing mixed with plaited hair, geeky bows and gothic netted veils.
We had another idea of using smoke in our shoot. This is a good example of how it can be used using lighting and maybe photoshop.
Nigel Barker
This photograph has the same backdrop we were looking for also the light shining from behind the models is something we could experiment with.

Annie Leibovitz
Use of light plays a big part in her photography. Also it shows how photshop can be used. We might experiment with photoshop in our photographs.

Use of lightbulbs in fashion photography. I like the black and white with the lightbulbs standing out from the background. This is an idea we had for our fashion shoot. We want to use props that will fit in with the crazy scientist theme.

Embroidered Light Bulbs

This is a drawing from a project from last year. Its a light bulb from the science museum, I then used this to make a colagraph plate from which I could print from.
For this styling project I have used this inspiration to embroider onto white mesh fabric which we will use when styling our models to add layers and ruffles linking to our research into the Edwardian fashions. I have used the light bulb motif as our characters are going to be crazy inventors, the light bulb was invented in the late Victorian times.
(Fabric is white but photographed on a background)

Current Trends Mood Board

These are the current trends that I have linked to our theme of Tantalising Chemistry.

Geeky Furniture for a Geeky Lifestyle!

Table Lamp £465
Mega Bulb Light £150

See through lamp shades, showing the light bulbs. This would add a scientific edge to a room.
ipod Coffee Table
Adding a Geeky sense of fun to the room.

Penny Farthing Cushion
Barcode Cushion
World Map Cushion all £70 each
95%Danish.com
I chose these cushions for the imagery and because like our colour palette they are also monochrome in colour. The barcode imagery is good because its simple and includes numbers in the design, which could be associated with geeks. The world map I have chosen again for the imagery which is associated with knowledge and then the penny farthing because it is was invented just before the Edwardian Era which we have linked to our geek theme.

Key Board Chairs
Designed by Simone Mitcheli
I found these fun chairs and thought they were very funny and would be good in a geek themed room.

Accessories

Looking into edwardian jewellery chockers and exagerated neck pieces were worn alot, i think this could be something we look at when styling our outfits, i think this neckpiece in particular has a very gothic dark look, which will be a good contrast to the geeky image.

I found this image of a pair of heels which was inspired by edwardian style with the ruffles - this could be something we experiement with creating our own ruffles and attaching them to shoes, or even to create volume around necklines on garments.

Looking into edwarian fashion accessories i found that veils covering the face was very much a key fashion trend of that time. So for our shoot we want to try and recreate this look , i will experiment with creating lace like structures using dissolvable fabric aquafil which we can then use as a veil in the shoot to add a sinsiter edge to our geeky theme.
