This is our shop window display for our concept. We would use fibre optics to represent the sparklers.

This is a shoot styled by Cathy Kasterine, I like it because of the models stiff and unusual poses making her look like an eerie porcelain doll. The green and cold colour palette make her look very pale.

Cathy Kasterine is a London stylist. When she was younger she helped her father who was a photographer in New York. She has worked for British Vogue and is remembered for her landmark shoot of Kate Moss in the June 1993 issue of Vogue.
She now styles photoshoots for Italian Vogue and ID Magazine.

I found this in a previous issue of Elle in the High Street Guide supplement. It shows a stylist creating the goth theme and the accessories she uses to do this.

If we were to do a catwalk show, we think Trevor bolongaro would be perfect, Trevor is a former founder of high street brand all saints, his work is original , unique and commercial , the new collection comprises of contemporary handmade pieces, inspired by vintage finds over the past 20 years, creating a modern and sharp sculptured aesthetic with a dark and moody, hard edge.

Afflex Palace Manchester

There is an area in Manchester called the Nothern Quater. This is where there are alot of alternative boutiques, vintage shops and is popular with the young boho creative group. There is a biulding caaled Afflex Palacw which has lots of these alternative one off boutiques under one roof. I think this type of building with its grand doorways and architecture would suit our theme. This is the building from the outside. I couldnt find any images of the shop windows withtin the building. Harriet Cope

Deisel Shop windows are always interesting and use the grungy look we like. Although we would use props like the ones in our photoshoot and fit with our theme, this shows how you can make a shop window look grungy yet still fashionable and interesting.

For our shop window we want to keep within our grungey alternative theme. Trevor Bolongaro was our inspiration for the catwalk so we looked at his sotres. I couldnt find an image of his shop window but within his store i like to worn down wooden flooring and dark wall colour.

looking at areas of edwardian fashion and how it is incorporated into modern fashion through use of ruffles and areas of detail.

A range of photogrphy looking at lighting and colour, greyscale could go quite well with our theme although it is primarily monochrome so a reduced saturation would work aswell to limit the colour palette and to use colour as a soft focus? experiment with creating shadows to highlight areas of the face or body.

Creating own accessorises for shoot

I looked at perhaps using the white neckpiece on top of a black tshirt to have a greater contrast in colour and texture.

I also created my own lace structure using aquafil dissovable fabric, using old bits of black lace and black thread to make up a piece that could be added around necklines, along side ruffles, i think the contrast of the black against the white makes to texture really stand out.

Creating own accessorises for shoot

I found these spider brooches in a charity shop , removed the backs and fixed them on ring bases to create sinister looking rings.

Creating texture , i made this neckpiece out of found metals, old necklaces, buttons, crochet wool ,and ruffled lace, i think with our monochrome colour pallette this adds texture to the garment, building up layers.

Photoshoot Story

We would like to create a sinister and dark story of two geeky characters one a mysterious and shady inventor and the other a bizarre scientist experimenting with evil black magic potions. These two puzzling characters are mixing the potions in their dark and dingy basement, adding an eerie edge.

The experiments will consist of jars filled with odd and horrible looking ingredients and we will use sparklers to add a bright light source which will add another layer to the shoot.

We want the female characters hair to look large round her face from all of the test experiments but then end up in a long plat with a bow at the end and a lace hair accessory, to add a sense of femininity and sex appeal. Her eye make-up will be dark, monochrome in colour and her lips will be a dark shade of plum.

The male character will be wearing large geeky glasses. We will customise his clothing by adding ruffles that we have made by manipulating fabric, and Edwardian style brooches, he will also be wearing braces to fit with the geek theme. The colour schemes for both the female and male characters clothing will be monochromatic, midnight black, ghostly grey, supernatural white complementing to the eerie mood of the shoot and luscious plum to add colour to the female models face.

All Saints

We like the idea of repetition for the window display, we will use this idea when designing our store layout for our concept.
We like the grungy style that these outfits contain and the ruffles and layering that has been used. The location of the shots has captured the dingy look that we would like to use in our photoshoot.

Location: Nottingham's Streets

I have taken photographs of various areas around Nottingham which look particularly sinister at night to help us find a good location!

Locations: Cellars

Using a cellar for our photoshoot could be the perfect location as they are dark, dingy and would add a sinister edge.
